Director of Pathology

Virscio

I am a board-certified veterinary pathologist with a PhD degree in Molecular and Cellular Pathobiology, and 18+ years’ experience as an Anatomic Veterinary Pathologist in academic and biopharmaceutical settings. I provide translational medicine support for drug development research at all stages of the pipeline from pre-IND through life cycle management, including clinical trial biopsy analysis to demonstrate pharmacodynamic effects within target tissues. My therapeutic areas of expertise include: oncology; cardiovascular & metabolic diseases, including diabetes and NAFLD/NASH; respiratory and autoimmune diseases; ocular and neuropathology; and infectious diseases.

In my personal life, I enjoy an active avocation as a clinical herbalist that includes medicinal plant gardening, medicine-making, and clinical consulting. I also have a keen interest in discovering new ways to use medicinal plants synergistically with modern biopharmaceuticals to achieve better patient and clinical trial outcomes, especially for complex, chronic, and refractory conditions like neurodegenerative conditions, autoimmune diseases, chronic fatigue syndrome, metastatic neoplasia, and antibiotic resistance.
